WHEN DO YOU PRAY?

I Kings 9:3 reads, “The Lord told him, I have heard your prayer and supplication which you have made before Me; I have hallowed this house which you have built, and I have put My Name [and My Presence] there forever. My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.”

If you are on top and all your needs are met… Pray

If the bills are stacked high and the account looks low … Pray

If your marriage is blessed and happiness abounds… Pray

If you think you’re headed for divorce by the end of the year… Pray

If you’re at the height of your career and you love what you do … Pray

If you struggle each day to get out of bed to go to work… Pray

If you have friends who love and support you in your walk … Pray

If you feel alone without a friend in the world who understands your walk… Pray

If you find joy in the little things and love life… Pray

If you are battling depressed feelings and emotional scars… Pray

If you are walking in divine health and have no sickness or disease… Pray

If your health seems to be failing you and it doesn’t look like you’re going to see it through… Pray

If you know God and understand that He is the source of your strength… Pray

If you are challenged with your faith but want to grow in the Word… Pray

I tried to come up with as many scenarios as possible that can make you feel like either you don’t need God or that God doesn’t need you. Both couldn’t be further from the truth. We all need God’s guidance and provision in our life no matter how “successful” or “happy” we may be. God gives us the tools to get wealth so we must always acknowledge Him even in our best days. So many times we wait for us to hit what looks like rock bottom before we call on Him. He’s not just there for us during the bad days… Deuteronomy 31:8 reads, “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” He’s always with us… we just don’t always acknowledge his presence.

When you’re feeling like you are at your lowest point, sometimes people think that God’s forgotten about them. You can see everyone around you living life successfully and you feel like a disappointment. God uses everyone. You were put on this earth for a purpose and it’s up to you to seek God to reveal your purpose. It doesn’t happen overnight but as you continue to seek Him and obey His voice, your life will begin to make a lot more sense. Your struggles only last for a season but you determine how long you stay in that season. Stop trying to go it alone… Life is so much easier with God… and more rewarding!! You just have to be willing to work for it.

Lastly, but most importantly, never pray the same thing twice. Let me be clear, when you pray for God to manifest some things or for him to work out some things that may not be going right in your life… BELIEVE that you receive the moment you say AMEN!! It is done. Anything less than that would be considered “hoping” or “wishing” it will come true. God’s Word is TRUTH. You don’t have to wish or hope for it, you can believe it! You don’t have to keep praying the same prayer. HE HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME! Your prayers about that particular issue should now be prayers of Thanksgiving. You should continue to pray prayers of thanksgiving for what you know he has already done and worked out even if your eyes can’t see it yet. Faith is about what we believe not what we see. If you remain steadfast, you will see it in due time. So by all means continue to pray in the good and the not so good times, but know that once you do, you can receive it and give thanks for it is already being done! Now that’s something to shout about!

  1. Not sure why your top picture isn’t showing, but it doesn’t even matter. This post is FABULOUS my sister. I thank you for the reminder. I think a lot of the begging and pleading we do w/ God can in fact be a measure of our unbelief too… or maybe not that extreme, but lack of faith maybe I should say. When we pray, we are making a request to God, saying I trust that when you see fit for this prayer to come to pass, you will make it so. Perhaps it is not coming to pass b/c you are not ready to receive…not b/c you aren’t praying for it enough.
    Well done B!!

  2. I really appreciated the application you gave that once you ask the Lord for something, you should stop asking but continue to pray in thanksgiving for answered prayer. That is SO important, believing that the Lord knows you and knows what’s best for you and therefore will provide everything you need. Thanks Bianca, for the encouraging and insightful words about Prayer!!! Love ya….
