For some reason today’s entry did not come easy for me. I knew what I wanted to share but I couldn’t seem to find the words to express what I was feeling. Call it writer’s block or distraction…I sat looking at one paragraph for over an hour. It wasn’t until I decided to make it plain that it began to take shape. Like many areas in my life, I was trying to cross 3rd base before reaching 1st. As usual, when I slow down and seek direction, the challenge I’m facing ceases to exist. So let me start with showing how looking up a simple definition led to me finding a simple prayer, which led to a simple revelation.
I knew this post needed to be about “wisdom.” Why? Because this is a huge area that I’m seeking to grow in this year. I need the wisdom of God for every area of my life. I need it to know when to speak and when to listen… When to move, when to be still… When to fight and when to let go. There have been many times I find myself in situations and I just don’t know what to do. I try to separate my heart, from my emotions, from my convictions and it falls into one giant mess! I know enough to know that the most dangerous thing to do is to react out of emotions or selfish desires. I also understand that no matter what your education level, your talents, your money, or your success… if you don’t seek out the wisdom of God you are at high risk of failing in life. We all need His wisdom to make sure that we utilize our education, our talents, our money, and our success to fulfill our purpose in life. It is only when we take God out of the equation that those same gifts/qualities can turn into our own weapons for self-destruction. So my journey began…
- Wisdom – knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just jud
gment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight. – Dictionary.com
- Wisdom is a deep understanding and realizing of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time and energy. It is the ability to optimally (effectively and efficiently) apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results. Wisdom is also the comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action. Synonyms include: sagacity, discernment, or insight. Wisdom often requires control of one’s emotional reactions (the “passions”) so that one’s principles, reason and knowledge prevail to determine one’s actions. – Wikipedia
I liked those definitions but I wanted to see how it related to spiritual wisdom which is where I ran across a prayer that was a part of a promotion for the book, “The Prayer of Solomon”:
I want to know You as You promise in Your Word. Thank You for sending your Son to save me and Your Holy Spirit to guide me in Your wisdom. And that You want to know me even more than I want to know You. Thank You for the love You extend to me every day. Father, I want to walk in that love.I admit that I do not have the wisdom on my own to accomplish all that you have put in my heart to do in this lifetime. I need Your guidance to walk every step of every day of my life.
I offer my praise and thanksgiving to You and ask these things in Jesus’ name.]
Sometimes the lessons are right in front of me. I didn’t need to write this blog in my own words today. I just needed to seek the wisdom of God to share what has already been written. In whatever you are trying to accomplish, seek the wisdom of God first. It is the best way to guarantee success.

Be FABULOUS,

In the Catholic Bible, there is a book of “Wisdom” which has always been my favorite. In this book Wisdom is always referred to as “she”…here are a few verses
For wisdom is a kindly spirit, yet she acquits not the blasphemer of his guilty lips; Because God is the witness of his inmost self and the sure observer of his heart and the listener to his tongue…..
Now what wisdom is, and how she came to be I shall relate; and I shall hide no secrets from you, But from the very beginning I shall search out and bring to light knowledge of her, nor shall I diverge from the truth…..
For Wisdom, the artificer of all, taught me. For in her is a spirit intelligent, holy, unique, Manifold, subtle, agile, clear, unstained, certain, Not baneful, loving the good, keen, unhampered, beneficent,…..
AMEN!!!!!!
