Real talk… I did not feel like writing today. No seriously… if you guys haven’t been able to tell, I’ve been going through some frustrations lately. The enemy is definitely trying to take me out. I mean he is using his craftiest weapons to get me to hold up the white flag and this past week was just as hard as the one before. I know you want to hear about the pleasantries of being Bold and Fab but I’m sure my sisters will tell you that we have our own issues too. The only difference is we live them out on the world wide web for all to see. Are we crazy? Lol… naw, we’re being obedient to the voice of God and all that comes with it.
With obedience comes adversity like you would not believe. It’s like being a champion fighter trying to defend your title. You know you’re the champion because of who you are in Christ but the unworthy opponent is fighting dirty. You know you can defeat him but you have to learn his technique. When you understand his methods, you’re better able to defend against them. Believers are champions by birthright. We can’t be defeated. We may lose a few rounds but it’s only because we let down our guard. We got weary. We got distracted. It has nothing to do with the opponent.
Sometimes we need to retreat back to our corner and get juiced again. That’s where our trainers are ready to recharge us for the next round. Your trainers are your spiritual advisors, family members, mentors, pastors, etc. Those people who are equipped with the Word to get you through your next round.
This week my trainer was the one and only Joel Osteen. I sought out his book that has been collecting dust on my bookshelf for a few months now titled, “It’s Your Time.” I purchased it during my Thanksgiving travel and enjoyed a few chapters on the plane but that’s about all until this week. You all know from my last post that I decided to take a hiatus from Facebook and spend more time reading. It’s been a tough transition but I’m making strides. Anyway, Joel’s words will serve as my blog today. It’s exactly what I need to get back in the ring so I thought I’d share!
“Your best days are not behind you, they are still out in front of you. You may have been through disappointments. You may feel that others have weighted you down or that your own poor choices have cursed your future, but remember this: Before anyone could put a curse on you, God put a blessing on you, and the blessing always overrides the curse.
Get in agreement with God.
I declare that every good thing God has put in you will come to fulfillment. Every gift, every talent, every dream, every desire will come to pass. I declare you will fulfill your purpose. You will fulfill your God-given destiny and become all He has created you to be. I declare you will overcome every obstacle. The strongholds of the past are being broken off of you. The negative things in your family line for generations will no longer affect you. I declare that the seeds of increase, the seeds of success, the seeds of promotion are taking a new root. The DNA of Almighty God will spring forth in your life in a greater way. You will see new seasons of increase, new seasons of God’s blessings, new season of His Favor.
It’s your time to believe.” ~Joel Osteen, “It’s Your Time”
I literally stumbled upon this portion of the book. I didn’t bookmark where I left off from a few months back so I was trying to figure out the last chapter I read. I still have no idea where I stopped reading but I believe I picked up in the exact place that I needed to read most right now. It was like he was speaking directly to me, or better yet God was speaking to me through him. No matter how you put it, I was in awe of how out of 304 pages, I happened upon the one that said exactly what I needed to hear. Sidenote: There’s a word in the excerpt that speaks directly to my vision. I’ll keep you in suspense for now…lol.
Some may think of his words as being simple. Something that everyone hears or has heard at one point and time. I would beg to differ. There are plenty of people that do not hear that level of faith talk and definitely aren’t reading it. We get caught up on hair magazines, celebrity gossips sites, and material that feed our natural desires. We often starve our spiritual needs until we think we need an intervention from God.
Think about it like this, if we spent more time equipping ourselves with materials that would increase our faith and help build us up spiritually, we could avoid having to go to the corner of the ring as much to get hyped up by our trainers. I know many of you are familiar with the saying, “The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s.” All very true but remember that God is in you. Take responsibility for equipping yourself with the Word so that God can work through you. If we rely more on His strength, we are guaranteed to come out of the ring with more rounds won and less scars.
So break out the gloves and Vaseline … Let’s GO!!
