Every since I was a little girl my mother has loved the sun. A self proclaimed beach connoisseur, we pretty much lived at the beach every summer as a kid. I’m not even sure what I loved most, enjoying the beach or seeing her so happy in her element. Regardless, I have very fond memories of my childhood.
The older I get and the more stories I hear about other’s troubled past, the more I realize how blessed I am to have grown up with a mother who I can call friend. I think the reason she loves the sun so much is because they have a lot in common. Similar to how the sun’s energy is the source of life, she’s truly the source of every good thing that has ever happened in mine. Every accomplishment, everything birthed inside of me, everything that represents the woman I am today started with my mom. She’s the very first example of unconditional love that I’ve ever known. So when it comes to honoring her, that comes easy. Through every disagreement, every set back, every disappointment we’ve pushed through together and for that alone I’m truly blessed.
So it’s with great pleasure that I dedicate this simple blog post to my mother on her birthday today as a very small token of how much I appreciate her and how deeply honored I am to call her mom!
