What About Me?

answer-girl-colorI can’t be the only one that has questioned if God had forgotten about me. I know I’m not the only one that has thought that I had done too many things outside of His will that I would be spending my days trying to prove that I was worthy of His love and attention. I believe that some of the most difficult things to discipline are your thoughts. The enemy can take up residence there and have you lose your mind, literally! It’s so dangerous when you don’t know how much God loves you and when you question His heart towards you. If ever you or I have any of those feelings rise up in our spirit again, be reminded of this:

There’s not enough good deeds, “right” decisions, giving of self that we could ever do to deserve God’s love. We don’t do things pleasing to God to earn is love. His love is a gift! All we have to do is receive!! We seek after His will because we want an intimate relationship with Him. It’s the same as a mother and father’s love for their child. They love you from the time you were first formed in the womb. They don’t say “let me find out how obedient he/she is” or “let me see if he/she turns out to be all that I imagine my child to be” before I know if I love them. Their love is unconditional and without warrant. Still, even their love can’t match God’s love.

There’s no doubt that there will be times when you feel like God doesn’t see you. You feel like you’re doing everything you can do to see your desires come to pass and it’s just not happening. The worse is when you feel like you are at the entrance and you realize it’s yet another hallway. If any of you have ever been to any Disney World amusement park you know how deceiving those lines can be. You travel the zig zag line right up until you reach that magical door only to realize that behind that door is yet another line of zig zags! It’s frustrating. We’re human so it’s natural to feel that emotion but don’t let it question whether what you are believing God for will come to pass. God says He will GIVE us the desires of our hearts so stop going after the desires and go after God! Maybe the reason we question if He’s forgotten about us is because of the lack of time we spend getting to know Him. We aren’t victims in this life, we are victors.. act like it! That promotion is coming! The financing for that dream home is coming! That bouncing baby is coming! Your wife/husband is coming! Claim it.

We all need a little push every now and then, our faith can be shaken so I’ll share a few scriptures that can keep us on track every time we question if God hears our prayers:

heartDeuteronomy 8:1-5  “Keep and live out the entire commandment that I’m commanding you today so that you’ll live and prosper and enter and own the land that God promised to your ancestors. Remember every road that God led you on for those forty years in the wilderness, pushing you to your limits, testing you so that he would know what you were made of, whether you would keep his commandments or not. He put you through hard times. He made you go hungry. Then he fed you with manna, something neither you nor your parents knew anything about, so you would learn that men and women don’t live by bread only; we live by every word that comes from God’s mouth. Your clothes didn’t wear out and your feet didn’t blister those forty years. You learned deep in your heart that God disciplines you in the same ways a father disciplines his child.”

Matthew 6:31-32 “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”

Matthew 7:11 “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

Ephesians 2:8-10  “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

2 Corinthians 9:8  “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”

Happy Tuesday!

Love, Bianca
