Uncharted Territory

george-tandy-jrI witnessed something remarkable this morning. So much so, I had to reschedule the post I originally planned and squeeze in a few minutes to write this one. The Steve Harvey Morning Show gives me life some days! Aside from the foolishness that gets me laughing and helps me wake up in the morning (I’m so not a morning person!), it’s usually something Steve says or does that motivates me and inspires me to keep pushing. Today was one of those special mornings. I tuned in at the end of a song that I may have heard a few times on the radio but not much. I stuck around to see who the artist was and to my surprise Steve Harvey had him on the phone. His name is George Tandy Jr. and the song is called March.” I mean, I thought it was a great song but nothing could prepare me for the awesome display of support from Steve.

He raved about how we have to support good music and real artist. So much so, that he asked all of his 7 million listeners to go on iTunes to purchase the single for .99 cents. As if that wasn’t enough, he told him to come on his show once the album is complete so that he can showcase each song live on air. As if that wasn’t enough, he gets Rickey Smiley on the phone during his own radio show and makes him listen to it live on the radio. He tells Rickey to tell his 4 million listeners to go to iTunes today and download the single. As if that wasn’t enough, Rickey tells George he wants him on his show to sing his single live on the air for his audience. Okay, I’ll pause so you can take all that in!!…..

george-tandy-jr2If you’re heart isn’t pounding you may not be who I’m talking to! Let me explain how his actions validated what I’ve been believing for some time now. It only takes ONE yes!! How many of you ever heard of this dude?… That’s what I thought. He’s been writing and producing behind the scenes for some time now. He even toured the world as a back up dancer at one point. I don’t know his full story but what I do know is one day he decided to step out there and go solo. I can imagine him in the studio laying this track hoping that it will gain traction. I can imagine that he was fully aware of his talents but probably a little unsure if anyone else would buy into it. I can imagine that this was a song he felt in his heart well before it ever hit the airwaves… and suddenly (yet not so suddenly) he’s being put on by one of the biggest names in entertainment!!

And for the record, I’m aware that his father is a jazz artist and producer. Of course there’s always the skeptic that will say he had a leg up on others and those are the people that will forever make excuses as to why they aren’t doing anything. Let’s be clear… there are plenty of people who have accomplished parents and are never put on! Your parents’ successes can only get you but so far. When the door opens you have to be able to show and prove… and he did.

What happened to him was so exciting for me! Yes ME! Why you ask? Because God is no respect of person. If He could do it for him, He can do it for anyone. It may not be through the likes of Steve Harvey or anyone famous for that matter but that’s not the point. What matters is that your dream takes flight. What matters is that you’re living out your assignment. What matters is that it only takes ONE person, ONE moment, ONE day to change your situation! You have no idea who’s looking at you. You have no idea who that person knows that can get you to the next level! Just do what God has called you to do before the attention is on you. Live it out and prepare before you take center stage and there’s a vast audience supporting you. With every level there’s new trials. Make sure you can handle where you are and enjoy those moments because before you know it, you’ll have a platform that will cross continents and you want to be prepared for that!!!

It’s crazy how in line this is to what I originally planned on posting. You’ll see what I mean next week but for now, accept my apology for the delayed post today but I’m praying that you agree it was worth the wait! Now go and get on your assignment! You could be NEXT!

Happy Tuesday!

Love, Bianca

  1. I’ve heard this song once before, and something really stuck out to me about it…something told me that this was going to be special! I’m glad that he got that break, and Steve is definitely the man to do it! Nice post!
