Archives: Declaring War!

Sometimes you don’t have anything new to say that would do justice to what you’re going through. Today would be that day for me. I make a point to be happy every day my eyes open but I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say that those days haven’t been met with enormous challenges over the past few months.  I get it though. I made a decision to pursue a dream and take the limits off my life and now I’m being hit with everything the enemies got. Glad I know that everything he has can’t compare to the God I serve. I dug through my old posts dated back to March 2012 and it speaks to exactly how I feel today. No one goes through life without trials but it’s good to know that I’m on the team that always wins!

Pastor Dwayne Freeman, Assistant Pastor at my church, puts it best when he says “It’s not what you think you are that holds you back, it’s what you think you are not!” …If that ain’t the truth! Well, I don’t know about you but I fight thoughts of intimidation and defeat EVERY DAY!! Every attack set up against me, I’ve fought face on. I’m not a coward. I’m not weak. I have on the full armor of God that protects me even when I’m being beat to a pulp. I’ve had some things transpire over the past few months that could have sent me over! Real talk! The natural part of me was near defeat, but the spiritual part of me had my back. When all my strength seemed to be gone, I prayed in the spirit and bounced back with even more vengeance and more determination to protect myself and most importantly my sanity!

It’s so important to have a relationship with Holy Spirit. When I’m at a loss, He speaks on my behalf. It’s the perfect prayer. Let me encourage you to decree some things over you life. Let your desires be known and ask for His wisdom to instruct you on how to makethem come to pass. You can’t expect anything different if you refuse to do anything different!! Yes, it may feel uncomfortable. Yes, it may not be what you’re used to. Yes, you may not even think it’s necessary but if you don’t know what to do, who cares what you think?!! Listen for God’s instruction and move.

Let me share an example of how God works… It started with:

1. I was listening to Steve Harvey yesterday morning and I caught the tail end of his show where he spoke about having Oprah Winfrey call in and promote her new programs for the OWN network. He commented about supporting positive programming and not submerging yourself in all of the trashy, gossipy, fist fighting “reality” shows that lack substance.
2. Hearing that, led me to view Oprah’s website where I saw that she interviewed Joel Osteen.
3. After watching the interview, I decided I would blow the dust off of his book “It’s Your Time” and read a few chapters. As soon as I opened the book, there was a Word for me right where I had bookmarked it from the last time I read (which was last summer some time!)  It read:

“You have exactly what you need. You may feel weak. You may feel intimidated. But God will multiply what you have. He will cause people to see you the way He wants you to be seen.”

You guys have no idea! Or maybe you do because it’s what you needed to hear too. Everything starts with a seed. Be careful who you allow to plant seeds in your life. Everyone isn’t equipped and everyone doesn’t have your best interest in mind. They want their fears to become your own. Don’t allow it! If they try to remind you of your past, who you used to be, the things you used to indulge in; remember that your past does not have to determine your future. God doesn’t hold it against you so why should you?  Don’t allow yourself to get stuck. Push through all your insecurities and self doubt and know that where there is vision there is always provision. Live a godly lifestyle without apology and watch the increase… not just in material things but peace of mind, happiness, and healthy relationships.
