“Your behavior is a reflection of what you believe.” ~ Pastor Dwayne Freeman

wordsLet me start by saying this: if every Sunday you leave church without even one word to pull on for the rest of the week I’m telling you that you’re in the wrong church! I don’t care whose auntie, momma, or grandma was baptized there in 1932! If your life isn’t impacted by being connected then it’s time to GO! Every Sunday I feel recharged and it lasts well beyond the pews. I carry it with me into my week. Some lessons resonate more with me than others but it’s never a waste when I attend church. Yes, the pastor definitely has a major part on what you get while sitting in the service. However, what you do with that word after you leave is 100% completely up to YOU. The Heart of the Matter

Matt. 5:8 “Blessed are the pure at heart. For they shall see God.”

This is my pastor’s favorite scripture and I can honestly say it’s becoming mine as well. The reason why? Because there are people close to me in my life that may not outwardly express their love for God the way that I do. They may not have the desire to attend church every Sunday. They may not even fully understand the benefit of tithing. I choose not to focus on the seen arena. Though I watch their actions, I also observe their heart towards people and life… and I allow Holy Spirit to reveal them to me from the inside out. I don’t have to see them speak in tongues. They don’t need to be in the choir or serve on the usher board. They just need to keep a pure heart and God will work on them in His time. I’m not jaded by those that are simply active in the church because that is not what truly counts.  Continue reading “The Heart of the Matter”

Say it with your actions

I have so much on my mind this evening that as I type, I’m not even sure what will come of it. This is the feeling my pastor must have felt this past Sunday as he shared how he had no clue where his lesson would go that morning. He had planned to ministry at each service before and Holy Spirit took it into another direction. So here I am with a plan of exactly how I wanted my blogs to take shape this new year of the Bold & the Fabulous and I’m just not feeling like it’s going to happen this week.  Continue reading “Say it with your actions”

Child-like Dreams!!

I had such a vivid imagination as a child. I could transform my reality in seconds and take on the make believe life as if it was the real deal. I would be a school teacher one minute, a princess the next, a mommy to my two favorite baby dolls, a hairdresser… you name it, I could dream it up and act it out. Somewhere along the way real life took over. I no longer found the time to imagine… to dream. Responisibilities, career, relationships took up my time and imagining a different life seemed so childish. That is until until my first lady, Dr. Dee Dee, did a lesson on “Dreams Do Come True.” It was such a powerful lesson, I wish I could post it for all of you to witness. I even used a portion of it in my documentary because of the huge impact it had on my life. Continue reading “Child-like Dreams!!”

Beyond Your Heart

You ever wonder why the desires of the world seem so much more desirable? I mean really, why is it so difficult for us to accept all that comes with living a Christian lifestyle? It seems like the moment you make the decision to change just one small aspect of your life, your mind gets flooded with all of the things you think you will miss out on if you truly carry out that decision. It can be so frustrating when you set out to do anything in life and seemingly fail. I mean, letting yourself and your family down is disappointing enough, but when you think about the possibility of letting God down…that’s a whole different level. So what do many of us do?… We shy away from the thought of doing what we feel we can’t for fear of failing God. There’s a certain confidence that we have in ourselves that we know we’ll eventually bounce back from our own disappointment. There’s another level of confidence we have in our family because we know that their disappointment will only last for a moment and they will always have our backs. So how can we develop that same confidence in God? Continue reading “Beyond Your Heart”
