In honor of my man of God, Pastor Michael A. Freeman, and his remarkable recovery and unshakable faith, I’m taking this Tuesday to share his testimony. In a time when our faith is being shaken by injustice and evil, let this serve as a reminder that God has the final say. When faced with challenges, no matter how dire the situation, keep your mind on the promise not the process. Evaluate the people you have in your circle now and remove all of those who you know would not stand with you in your darkest hour. It does matter who you call friend. It matters what church you attend. And it matters who you allow to speak over your life. Take inventory now.
I don’t have to write much today. No words can describe faith better than seeing real faith in action. So, I’ll let this video speak for itself. Keep the faith! Even if it’s all you have to stand on, it’s enough. My pastor is living proof.
There is no doubt that we are living in a world plagued with unspeakable hate. There are many other words that come to mind but at this very moment “hate” sums up the atmosphere. The self hate, racial hate, gender hate, political hate, and international hate is suffocating. I’ve been watching too much CNN, I admit. My timeline has been plagued with all things “Mike Brown” … #Ferguson #HandsUpDontShoot #NotOneDime #DieIN … and all I want to do is #Breathe. I seriously felt myself giving up last week. I was emotionless. I didn’t feel good or bad. I felt nothing and it scared me a bit. As usual, when I get in my mood, I take time to be alone with God. I didn’t ask a thing. I didn’t have any questions. I simply needed God to deal with my empty emotions and make sense of it. Continue reading
“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].”
When you think of some of your most prized possessions what comes first to mind? In the materialistic world we live in, it’s so easy to list out all the tangible things that we couldn’t live without. They don’t even have to be costly things just something that you would hate to have taken from you. Here’s what I’m willing to bet. Many of your lists would not include “time
.” Time is such a fragile part of life. It can be taken away in an instance without any warning but we take it for granted far too often.
It’s a new year and “Tuesdays with Bianca” is taking on a new look! You like?! I hope you do but even if you don’t I know that it’s not about that. You want to know what I have to say. Why do I deserve this platform and what am I going to do with it? Well it’s simple, I’m going to share what God places on my heart with a pure heart to uplift, inspire, and transform lives for the better. However He sees fit for me to do that then I’m all in!
I talk a lot about God’s purpose for your lives. I’m an unrelenting advocate for people finding theirs and moving on it, but what I’ve come to realize is that the word “purpose” is becoming cliche. People have heard it so much that they turn a deaf ear to it unknowingly. It’s such a simple, yet huge word and it can be daunting to think about. It’s also often positioned as something that we have to seek out and find. Though there’s truth to that, it can give the impression that it’s a possibility we may miss it in our lifetime for whatever reason. Although I love the word “purpose” I’m going to erase that from my vocabulary this year for one reason only… to reach those that either fear or reject it. From this day forward, I’m going to talk only about your assignment.
The dictionary defines “assignment” as: A position or post of duty to which one is assigned. A transfer of a claim, right, interest, or property from one to another. Continue reading
So here it is… the truth and nothing but the truth…I have no idea what I’m doing!!! What have I gotten myself into?! I’m a behind the scenes type person. I’ve never liked being in the forefront… NEVER! I’m so out of my element and miles away from my comfort zone. This faith walk is no joke!! I’m less than 20 days away from the premiere of my first documentary film “To God be the Glamour” and I’m full of mixed emotions. My wallet is saying… “you can’t afford to go through with this” and my nerves are saying “I’m not prepared for this,” but my heart is telling me “you have to do this.” For the first time in a long time I can honestly say I have no idea what I’m doing. What I have to believe is that God is behind this. I promise you that I wouldn’t be doing it if I didn’t wholeheartedly believe that it was the doorway into leading a more purposeful life. My sincere prayer is that God is bought to the forefront through my simple obedience to His call… no matter how much I want to run the other way! Continue reading
So the last time I was here, I wrote about my drive home and how God spoke to me about being prime real estate. It was just another example of how he was using my love for shopping as a teaching tool. Well on that same ride home, He spoke again a few moments later. I guess you could say it was a lively conversation that day. I couldn’t figure a way to tie it all together so I decided to save it for the next week. Sadly, it turned into a month later but I believe the message is timeless and ironically something I needed to read for myself today! Continue reading
I was recently asked what I was giving up for Lent and answered quite frankly, “Nothing.” Having gone to Catholic school for the majority of my life; I remember being taught about the season of Lent and acknowledging the Stations of the Cross, but it never stuck with me. I don’t recall ever giving up anything for Lent nor having the conviction to do so. I decided to refresh my memory on where it all originated and the significance behind it.
Have you ever had God speak life into you with the most basic analogies? I mean things that are so simple, but yet so complex to the point that you just KNOW it had to be God’s voice. I wasn’t even thinking about anything at the time really. I was on my way to work about to pull into a parking space and God wanted to chat. I know some of this appears spooky to those that may not have a relationship with God to the point where he interrupts your day but just follow me for a minute. Continue reading
“A friend is a gift you give yourself.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson
The day is almost over and I’m just getting around to my weekly post (smh). My apologies for the late hour but lately I’ve been having a hard time focusing. Like many folks, I have a lot going on and some weeks I handle it better than others. The past few have been a bit challenging so when I thought of what I could share today, the first thing that came to mind was the unique gift of friendship, which has been a saving grace for me recently. I found a quote from Robert Louis Stevenson that reads: “A friend is a gift you give yourself.” Continue reading
“You will live at the level you are taught. Who you listen to will soon be who you will become like.” Pastor Mike Freeman
This post was inspired by the many status posts that I have come across as we lead up to the big day. What day you ask? Valentine’s Day. Yes, ladies and gentlemen we are approaching one of the most dreaded days for singles across the globe… and why is that? Because sometime ago, it was established that Valentine’s Day would be a day for lovers. It would be a day that florists, greeting card designers, and jewelry store owners would maximize their opportunity and make a fortune off of consumer emotions. It’s really not unlike any other holiday that has become so commercialized. So it’s my heart’s desire to bring light to what we should all truly be celebrating next week. I’m trying to save someone from breaking out the sappy movies and tub of ice cream to pacify the spirit of loneliness. This is not just for my ladies, I’m speaking to my fellas too because they get sucked into the hype of it all just the same. Continue reading
