I Need Just A Little More Jesus… What??

erica-campbell-all-white-long-hairIt wasn’t too long after I turned on the radio that I heard Erica Campbell’s newest single “I Need Just A Little More Jesus.” I actually heard the song a few times before and thought to myself … “What??” But this time I listened to as much of it as I could stand and promptly turned it off! I’d rather ride home in silence. I know, I know… how dare I say something about a gospel song with the name “JESUS” in it?! Well here’s the thing, I’m not moved by religion, I’m moved by relationship. In any relationship you must know the person you call “friend.” I’ve spent enough time learning Him to know through His own words that He’s done all that He is going to do. What more can you ask of someone who died for you? He not only died but resurrected and is with us every single moment of our lives. He is known as “I AM” meaning everything you will ever need He is. So tell me what more can He be for you or do for you?? …. I’ll wait. The truth is we tend to not recognize His presence until we’re beat up and torn down by our way of life. The song would make sense if it was about needing to make more time for Jesus but the way it is now is just dumb. Yes dumb. Continue reading “I Need Just A Little More Jesus… What??”

The Voice

Everyone says when you hear God’s voice move in the way that he instructs you to move. No hesitation. No second opinions. Just go! That sounds good in theory but lets take in to account someone who has been unsuccessful at shutting down all the other clutter that fills their thoughts. What’s the secret to extracting His voice from all other voices that fill your head with things contrary to what you believe He is telling you to do. Not all things contrary have to be bad. They can just be logical, safe, or comfortable. In other words, if you chose to follow the contrary, you wouldn’t necessarily be doing yourself or anyone else any harm… or would you? The Main Event

celebration3We live in a world where a person’s success is measured by a major event… a graduation, a promotion, an engagement, a milestone birthday… You get the picture. It’s no wonder why many believers carry that same mindset into their relationship with God. We celebrate God when something we’ve been believing Him for comes to pass. But what about those things that happen for us that we didn’t seek out from God. What about those “minor” things that aid us towards accomplishing those goals. I use the word “minor” loosely because if we fail to conquer those smaller areas, the main event is impossible to reach.

I’m thankful to a group of young ladies who helped me to remember those things in 2013 that weren’t on my “To-Do List.” The assignment was to list out our successes from 2013 that weren’t goals for us. Initially it was hard to come up with but as I dug deep into my memory bank, I had at least 6 things that I had accomplished or witnessed that I never saw coming.

celebration1Stop waiting around for that big desire to manifest itself. Every moment of your life matters. EVERY moment. Celebrate the small victories. It’s because of them that you are able and prepared for the big ones. You think an Olympic track star got there without having to train daily and win a ton of smaller meets? You think a team gets to the Super Bowl without having to gel during training camp and  have a winning regular season?

Think about it. Your journey is a day to day process of renewing your mind, overcoming obstacles, and fulfilling assignments that will equip you for the big show… whatever that may be. Each time you make a decision that aligns with God’s will for your life… celebrate! When you pay off one of your 10 credit cards … celebrate! When you let go of that toxic relationship and go a week without contacting that person… celebrate! When you finish the first chapter of the book you’ve been trying to write for months… celebrate! When you complete that class you dreaded with a passing grade… celebrate! Don’t let another day pass by without thanking God for the simple things in life… Air to breathe, mobility of your limbs, a roof over your head, a job to go to. You don’t have to have a cheering section. You don’t need all your friends around. It’s okay to celebrate you all by yourself… knowing that God is pleased. Be grateful and smile… with God by your side you always have something to celebrate!

… And since you would have so much practice celebrating, can you imagine what the celebration is going to be like when you reach the main event?!! You ain’t ready! 🙂

Happy Tuesday and Love Month!!

“First Name: LUKE, Last Name: WARM”

This month is all about LOVE so I had to share a spoken word piece presented by one of my favorites. Check it out:

I love poetry and spoken word!! It is a powerful art form and when the topic can speak life to you, it’s the best medicine. I sincerely wish that these words came directly from my lips because it’s exactly what I would say to my “husband.” Powerful words by one of my favorites and someone I desire to work with in the very near future: Jeanette ikz.

photoI found this performance years ago and it still resonates with me. She captured perfectly what’s buried in my heart for “the One.” But even more so she exudes the love that we should have for ourselves just to be able to conquer those feelings of disappointment and hurt. I only felt it right to share with my readers because of how hard I went IN on women a few weeks ago. The need for status, money, and attention weighs so heavy that women will sacrifice their bodies, their integrity, and their happiness for the material luxuries that men afford them. It’s refreshing to see glimpses of Proverbs 31 women in this day. They’re the women who may not be in the same spotlight but who seek God’s perfect love and in turn seek the love of a Godly man who will honor them. Given the examples we have, it seems a distant dream but those that are built on a firm foundation will not tire out. We will wait and we will believe that “he” will soon make his presence known. No time for “sorta kindas” or “Luke Warms!” Enjoy the video!!

Happy Tuesday!

Part I: The Dilemma

On Day 8 of my fast this month, the devotion referenced the passage Romans 8:1-4, 8-9 GWT. I decided to go directly to the Message translation because in most cases it’s the version that resonates most with my spirit. I like basic, to the point, in your face messages and the Message bible does it for me. I tried really hard to pick a few verses to highlight but I simply couldn’t! So much so, I had to go back a chapter to get the full meaning. So here we are at Romans 7! Continue reading “Part I: The Dilemma”

On Assignment

choresIt’s a new year and “Tuesdays with Bianca” is taking on a new look! You like?! I hope you do but even if you don’t I know that it’s not about that. You want to know what I have to say. Why do I deserve this platform and what am I going to do with it? Well it’s simple, I’m going to share what God places on my heart with a pure heart to uplift, inspire, and transform lives for the better. However He sees fit for me to do that then I’m all in!

I talk a lot about God’s purpose for your lives. I’m an unrelenting advocate for people finding theirs and moving on it, but what I’ve come to realize is that the word “purpose” is becoming cliche. People have heard it so much that they turn a deaf ear to it unknowingly. It’s such a simple, yet huge word and it can be daunting to think about. It’s also often positioned as something that we have to seek out and find. Though there’s truth to that, it can give the impression that it’s a possibility we may miss it in our lifetime for whatever reason. Although I love the word “purpose” I’m going to erase that from my vocabulary this year for one reason only… to reach those that either fear or reject it. From this day forward, I’m going to talk only about your assignment.

The dictionary defines “assignment” as: A position or post of duty to which one is assigned. A transfer of a claim, right, interest, or property from one to another.  Continue reading “On Assignment”

Hellooo 2014!!!

UnknownWow! It’s New Year’s Eve! 2013 is coming to an end and 2014 is staring us down! Resolutions are being made across the globe. We all know the drill… people are losing weight, changing their diet, starting new hobbies, finding Mr. or Mrs. Right; the lists go on and on but let me change the game up for you this year! Let’s all focus on committing to ONE specific thing this year… PURPOSE! It’s the one thing that will bring incomparable joy and satisfaction. I guarantee if we all focus on that one word, all the other things we desire will fall into place in due season. I literally stumbled upon a passage the other day that planted firmly in my spirit. It speaks volumes to the importance of TODAY and the gift that each day is to each one of us. It’s my hope that you’ll meditate on it and see the big picture. Continue reading “Hellooo 2014!!!”

Duck Dynasty

I’m beginning to think that God likes setting me up. No really, I write and schedule my blogs well in advance and as fate would have it, my “Duck Dynasty” blog would come out a week shy of Phil Robertson flat-lining his career in reality TV. If you haven’t heard by now, Phil has been removed indefinitely from the hit show “Duck Dynasty” after making some very crude comments against the LGBT community, as well as racially offensive comments. I really wanted to trash this post altogether after that news was released. How would people receive this message now after all the negative publicity? I’m thinking this could go wrong real fast. That lasted just a moment until I remembered who was in control so I’m trusting His timing. Regardless of the recent occurrence, I still believe that there’s a message in the video selected. I just hope you all can listen to it with fresh ears no matter what your feelings are towards him as a person. So here goes…

Through the Storm

I kept hearing about this amazing video swarming the internet of a man proposing to his girlfriend and marrying her on the same day. Although I’m a hopeless romantic, for some reason there was no urgency in me to watch it. However, after a close friend posted the link on Facebook, I decided to see what all the hype was about. Needless to say I was ill prepared for how truly special and spiritual their story would be. We live in the days where the word “love” is constantly abused and misused. My favorite example is “Love & Hip Hop.” It’s one of the top rated shows among African Americans and there’s absolutely nothing about the show that speaks to love. Greed? Yes. Lust? Yes. Fame? Yes. Living with your baby momma and girlfriend of over 11 years, then marrying your “side-piece” is not love. Trying to get one of your baby mommas to agree to a paternity test after fathering two children just months apart from each other is not love. But I digress. The bigger issue is that the more we misrepresent love, the harder it is for us to recognize the real thing. Ladies and gentlemen, the video you just saw is the REAL THING!

Anyone who watched this video can’t help but to feel the love…and not just between the couple. The real love story is their love for Jesus and making him the center of their love story. How can any love story be told without the One who is Love? That’s what makes the story so beautiful to me! I had all intentions to let the video speak for itself without any real commentary from me BUT I’m a writer and well, I just couldn’t help myself. Since there’s really not much I can add to make the message any more clearer, I’ll just highlight a few things I noted while watching their beautiful love story. I’m a little wierd so I pick out the subtlties in everything so bare with me :). Continue reading “Through the Storm”

PRO-GOD

“I was given grace to carry that story,” she said.“My story is a voice for the voiceless.” – Molly Anne Dutton www.huffingtonpost.com

You’re going to have to trust me on this one. I know many of you don’t know me so you don’t know the integrity that I walk in daily. But please know that I would not say that something came from God, unless I truly believed it did. Trust that I don’t play with that! So when I tell you that I have had a blog with only 3 words saved to my drafts for almost a month I’m telling you the truth. God placed on my heart to write a story on abortion. Yes, abortion and I so didn’t want to get into that. But I had the narrative in my head and knew the direction that God wanted me to go, I just couldn’t seem to get it on paper.  I tried to reason with Him on all the reasons I shouldn’t but I knew that I would eventually lose the battle. I sat in front of my computer each day staring at those 3 words asking Him to show me how to get started. It’s such a heavy subject and a very sensitive area that I wanted to make sure He led the way so I would do it justice. I never want to mess up anything He tells me to do so if it meant that it would sit in my drafts until I heard clearly from Him than so be it! Continue reading “PRO-GOD”
