RESTART

restart I love how God uses everyday, nominal occurrences to grab my attention. Let me paint the picture for you. I’m sitting at my writing desk wrapping up Sunday online service when that annoying pop up banner appears with the same pesky alert that reads something like “Update available. Do you want to restart your computer?” The options read: RESTART or LATER. For months, I’ve hit the LATER button continuously irritated that it just won’t go away!  It’s not that I don’t think the updates are necessary. I don’t have a particular issue with updating my computer; however, what I do have an issue with is how long it usually takes to complete. When I take time out to sit at my computer to do anything I want to do it now. I don’t think about completing the updates any other time. It’s only when I get that pesky pop up that I think, “I should really do that but I don’t have time.”

I literally had the cursor hovering above the LATER button when I stopped dead in my tracks. Images flooded my mind of my computer taking forever to load, or the video buffering while I’m trying to watch them, or site freezing in the midst of me scrolling. Then the question arises, “Why do you think you have so many challenges when you’re trying to complete a task on your computer? Should you just replace the entire computer? Is it trash or could it have anything to do with those pesky little updates that you’ve continued to ignore over the past few months?”……This is where the moment of sheer stupidity and revelation mix. Refueled

“Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21

In December 2012, the plan was to dissolve “The BOLD & The FABULOUS” blog, which for me meant my blogging run was over. I wasn’t upset about it at all. Although I loved it, I knew that everything had its season and that we had a great run while it lasted. Now it was on to other things. Little did I know that my involvement with “The BOLD & The FABULOUS” was preparation for me to come from behind the scenes to find my voice and build enough confidence to share it with the world. If you look back to my very first blog in July 2010, you will read all about my hesitations. I won’t drill down on that any more than necessary, but just know that it was not my desire to share my stories with the world. However, as my relationship with God grew, my desires began to take a backseat and it became more important for me to fulfill His purpose for my life. Continue reading “Refueled”

Searching for My Set Place: Entry 1 – July 8, 2007

Lessons from July 8, 2007

Today marks the beginning of my journals that will document my quest to find my set place. Follow me on this journey as I seek out the wisdom of God from lessons past to guide me on the journey of self discovery and purpose. I vow to openly and honestly share my thoughts and insights as I study each lesson and find direction. Living this journey out loud gives me the accountability I need to stay committed to this process while hopefully impacting lives across the globe. (If you’re not sure what the concept is for my new entries, check out my previous entry “My Set Place.”) … So let the journey begin… Sunday, July 8, 2007 Continue reading “Searching for My Set Place: Entry 1 – July 8, 2007”

From the Beginning…

As the Bold & the Fabulous embarks on our 1 year anniversary, I’d like to take a walk down memory lane. I revisited my very first post to see how I far I’ve come as a writer, believer, and a woman. I remember the anxiety I felt as I wrote this entry. I felt so vulnerable and unsure of how I would be able to get through it. Now I look back and realize that I made it through an entire year and with each week it got easier and easier. So naturally, when I get too comfortable, I want to challenge myself.  So on the week of our anniversary be expecting something BRAND NEW!! It is sure to be a blessing as it challenges me to be better, learn more, and stay accountable. Check out my very first blog and see how it all began… Continue reading “From the Beginning…”

STOP CLIMBING!

Here’s a quick note that may help you get through the rest of the week… maybe for some of you the rest of the day!! Think of any problem, challenge, or difficult situation you are facing as a mountain in the distance. Your mountain seems like a momentous challenge that will take forever to overcome. As you sit there pondering how you are going to get over it or how long it will take to get around it, let me let you in on something… Stop wasting time and energy thinking that your problem is greater than God. Stop preparing yourself for a fight that you’ve already won. It’s like packing up weaponry and all-weather gear to go on a journey that required some running shoes, one change of clothes, and a backpack. Continue reading “STOP CLIMBING!”
