Refueled

“Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21

In December 2012, the plan was to dissolve “The BOLD & The FABULOUS” blog, which for me meant my blogging run was over. I wasn’t upset about it at all. Although I loved it, I knew that everything had its season and that we had a great run while it lasted. Now it was on to other things. Little did I know that my involvement with “The BOLD & The FABULOUS” was preparation for me to come from behind the scenes to find my voice and build enough confidence to share it with the world. If you look back to my very first blog in July 2010, you will read all about my hesitations. I won’t drill down on that any more than necessary, but just know that it was not my desire to share my stories with the world. However, as my relationship with God grew, my desires began to take a backseat and it became more important for me to fulfill His purpose for my life. Continue reading “Refueled”

Spoon Fed

Jer. 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

If I could put my gratefulness into words, it would take me years to write it all down. God has a way of revealing just enough of His plan, His purpose, and His love so that we can recognize and give more of ourselves to Him daily. The more I spend time with Him, the more He spoon feeds me His wisdom. I sat at home and marveled at how far God has brought me in just a few short months. I’ve endured tests and trials that could have wiped me out if I had not had a relationship with God the Almighty. Continue reading “Spoon Fed”

Perfect Timing

So the last time I was here, I wrote about my drive home and how God spoke to me about being prime real estate. It was just another example of how he was using my love for shopping as a teaching tool. Well on that same ride home, He spoke again a few moments later. I guess you could say it was a lively conversation that day. I couldn’t figure a way to tie it all together so I decided to save it for the next week. Sadly, it turned into a month later but I believe the message is timeless and ironically something I needed to read for myself today! Continue reading “Perfect Timing”

Power & Beauty

Many different things in life inspire me.  Daily I ask God that my ears be sensitive to His voice. A few weeks ago I was watching a webisode called “Red Table” led by Jada Pinkett-Smith. She sat with her mother and daughter and discussed various questions that they each placed in the box for each other to answer. The interview was compelling but the part that stuck out most to me was when Jada’s mother asked her if she held any animosity toward her for having not raised her properly while battling drug addiction. It was a powerful question and the one quote in particular that stuck in my head was when Jada said, “I look for the power and beauty in every situation, no matter how bad it is.” Continue reading “Power & Beauty”

Child-like Dreams!!

I had such a vivid imagination as a child. I could transform my reality in seconds and take on the make believe life as if it was the real deal. I would be a school teacher one minute, a princess the next, a mommy to my two favorite baby dolls, a hairdresser… you name it, I could dream it up and act it out. Somewhere along the way real life took over. I no longer found the time to imagine… to dream. Responisibilities, career, relationships took up my time and imagining a different life seemed so childish. That is until until my first lady, Dr. Dee Dee, did a lesson on “Dreams Do Come True.” It was such a powerful lesson, I wish I could post it for all of you to witness. I even used a portion of it in my documentary because of the huge impact it had on my life. Continue reading “Child-like Dreams!!”

Freedom of Faith

Has anyone ever asked you why you are Christian? Why do you believe in Jesus Christ? If so, what was your answer?… and if you’ve never been asked that, what would your answer be? I’m going to go out on a limb and make a generalization (something I rarely do) and say that a vast majority of Christians never really had to choose their faith. Without having done an ounce of research I’d say that many of us were brought up in the church from the time we were babies. Others may have known about church but were not necessarily considered church- goers. None-the-less, for many of us it has been engrained in us that Jesus is Lord whether you live by the Word or not. Continue reading “Freedom of Faith”

Elizabeth

I’m sitting on the train with two hours to spare and here I am typing to my B&F family. I’m beginning to understand how therapeutic this is for me. I know, I know… this isn’t about me but I’ve been a writer all my life. It wasn’t until July 2010 that I began to make it public. Before then, I considered it hobby… the B&F family made it a mission… and today I’m adding therapy to the mix. Today’s blog is a bit different so I hope you guys don’t mind a little story telling. I promise there’s a point at the end. Continue reading “Elizabeth”

Define What YOU Want!

It’s often so easy for us to say we want a better paying job, a husband, a wife, our own business, etc but how often do we set aside time to clearly define those things. As usual, I’ll use myself as an example. Since I began my career, I knew I wanted to be a TV producer. I’ve always been a visual person with tons of creative ideas and opinions on what I would love to see on screen. I jumped into my career the first chance I got and went with the flow. I wasn’t quite in the position I dreamed of but I was happy to be in my field and getting paid decent for it. The years passed and I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t progressing in the areas I wanted to be. Each day became more difficult and I couldn’t see an end to the tunnel. It wasn’t until I heard the words of a man who has made such an extraordinary impact on my life that I was able to see passed the situation. My pastor once said, “The power to define is the power to fulfill. You can’t fulfill what you are unable to define.” Continue reading “Define What YOU Want!”

No Excuses…

It’s my heart’s desire to share stories, words, and revelations each and every Tuesday that will impact your lives for days to come. Some weeks are more challenging than others and most of the time it’s due to poor planning on my part. This week would be one of them but for those that know me they know that I don’t do anything halfway. I give 100% to everything that I set out to accomplish or take part in and the Bold & the Fabulous is no different. Continue reading “No Excuses…”
