The Great Interrupter

I told myself earlier this month that I would write a new post about my journey to landing an opportunity of a lifetime. Weeks passed and though it never left my mind, I didn’t allow myself to slow down enough to get my thoughts together to be able to share the magnitude of what happened; especially in a year that has been nothing less than tragic. I promise that I’ll get to that story but today I had to stop everything to share the most simplest moment that happened to me just this morning.

Like many of you, I have been hit hard this week. The news of Jacob Blake… followed by the teen vigilante shooting… while watching the repeated history displayed at the March on Washington… and the looming frustration of have no arrests in the case of Breonna Taylor… and then news that Chadwick Boseman dies at age 42. THE Black Panther. Wakanda Forever. Gone. It was too much. So this morning I purposed myself to take control of the mood that I wanted to set for the day. I decided to set aside hours of no television and no social media. Instead, I would light candles, have breakfast, fold clothes and maybe I would break out one of the books I’ve been trying to read for over a year.

God & Cars

Have you ever had God speak life into you with the most basic analogies? I mean things that are so simple, but yet so complex to the point that you just KNOW it had to be God’s voice. I wasn’t even thinking about anything at the time really. I was on my way to work about to pull into a parking space and God wanted to chat. I know some of this appears spooky to those that may not have a relationship with God to the point where he interrupts your day but just follow me for a minute.  Continue reading “God & Cars”

Simple Wisdom

For some reason today’s entry did not come easy for me. I knew what I wanted to share but I couldn’t seem to find the words to express what I was feeling. Call it writer’s block or distraction…I sat looking at one paragraph for over an hour. It wasn’t until I decided to make it plain that it began to take shape. Like many areas in my life, I was trying to cross 3rd base before reaching 1st. As usual, when I slow down and seek direction, the challenge I’m facing ceases to exist. So let me start with showing how looking up a simple definition led to me finding a simple prayer, which led to a simple revelation. Continue reading “Simple Wisdom”

Is Love Ever Blind?

Today it seems I have more questions than answers. Decided I’d share a random thought that came to mind a few days ago that led to some real soul searching and prayer about the topic…

“Love is blind.” Love is blind? Who came up with this saying? What is the idea behind it? What does it mean to you? I was sitting alone thinking of all the people I love or have loved at one point in time and realized I wouldn’t categorize any of them as “blind love.” Love is a strong word and is usually not handed out to just any passerby. I mean, as Christians, we are taught to show love to all people and though we may have love in our hearts for them, it’s not often that they hear the words “I love you.” We save those words for people who have reached our hearts in ways unimaginable. Whether family, friends, or mates those three words are usually reserved for those that hold a special place in our hearts. I can honestly say that the love I share for others is intentional.
