Lesson from Rehab

So I’m not an overly emotional person. It takes a lot to get me choked up and even more to make me cry but a new episode of “Rehab with Dr. Drew” almost did me in yesterday. I hardly have time to watch TV but when I do, I love to watch meaningful shows and this is one of them. See I have a sensitivity to this subject having had to deal with and continue to deal with drug abuse in my family. There’s nothing… I mean absolutely NOTHING like seeing a loved one destroy themselves and that feeling of being completely helpless as you watch them do so. I know there are stories where family members are able to cut the cord and wash their hands of someone that is considered “too far gone” and maybe there’s a point where everyone has to do that; but I haven’t reached that limit. I don’t think I ever will. Continue reading

Power & Beauty

Many different things in life inspire me.  Daily I ask God that my ears be sensitive to His voice. A few weeks ago I was watching a webisode called “Red Table” led by Jada Pinkett-Smith. She sat with her mother and daughter and discussed various questions that they each placed in the box for each other to answer. After a beautiful weekend celebrating my mom and all that she’s been to me over the years, I thought it fitting to share an excerpt I read from Joyce Meyer’s book, “Battlefield of the Mind.” It’s a passage that should forever change the way you view your life if you have children or desire to have children one day.

“Your decision to obey God affects other people, and when you decide to disobey God, that also affects others. You may disobey God and choose to stay in the wilderness, but please keep in mind that if you now have or ever have children, your decision will keep them in the wilderness with you. They may manage to get themselves out when they are grown, but I can assure you they will pay a price for you disobedience.

Your life might be in better shape now if someone in your past had obeyed God.” Continue reading

The Champ Is Here!

Real talk… I did not feel like writing today. No seriously… if you guys haven’t been able to tell, I’ve been going through some frustrations lately. The enemy is definitely trying to take me out. I mean he is using his craftiest weapons to get me to hold up the white flag and this past week was just as hard as the one before. I know you want to hear about the pleasantries of being Bold and Fab but I’m sure my sisters will tell you that we have our own issues too. The only difference is we live them out on the world wide web for all to see. Are we crazy? Lol… naw, we’re being obedient to the voice of God and all that comes with it. Continue reading
