A Stupid Shower Rod

DSC_0277You guys just don’t know how hard it was for me to sit on this story for a week. I had all intentions of writing about the “leak” of the MiMi and Nikko sex tape but couldn’t get a word out. Every time I started, I’d get stuck. I was so focused on wanting my post to be timely that I was trying to force a message that wasn’t even there. It wasn’t until the Thursday after my post that what I really wanted to say came to life and it was all sparked when a friend of mine forwarded me the article posted below:

‘LOVE & HIP HOP’ SEX TAPE

Cripples Home Depot

NATIONAL SHOWER ROD SHORTAGE

“Demand is going through the roof for gymnastics-strength shower rods — all thanks to “Love & Hip Hop” star Mimi Faust‘s sex tape acrobatics — and Home DepotLowe’sTarget, and Walmart are struggling to keep up. We called employees at each of the major retailers (from Georgia to Cali) and we’re getting the same story — ever since the trailer for Mimi’s sex tape came out, people have been racing to purchase their own super-strong shower rods to recreate the Mimi experience. And supplies are running out — a customer at one Home Depot in Georgia tells us, they were totally sold out of Mimi-strength shower rods. This is a real thing — a Twitter search for “Mimi shower rod” shows an endless list of people trying to get their hands on one. There’s even a Twitter account dedicated to it (@MimiShowerRod). And don’t even get us started on the Vine videos. We reached out to officials at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and Target — no word back so far.” Continue reading “A Stupid Shower Rod”

Follow the Leader

When God gave me the vision for BASH Films, I had no idea where it would lead or how I would get started. It all began with a grad school assignment and quickly flourished into something much bigger than me. You see, I work in entertainment and faith based content back then was pretty much non-existent. The shows that were centered around faith were “churchy” music video shows that only “church” people would watch. But God was calling me to the masses. He wanted me to infiltrate a massive machine that glamorizes promiscuity, drugs, material wealth, and beyond. His vision for me was to represent women in the light that He had created them to be instead of what the limelight had molded them to be. I couldn’t see a pathway to do what He wanted me to do so I second guessed if it was even Him who gave me the vision. Was I crazy? I needed to stick to the script, work my way up the ladder, and be grateful to be in the business period. Continue reading “Follow the Leader”

Prepare Yourself

There’s nothing like having someone in your life that pushes you to go beyond where you think you are ready to go. I’m fortunate to be under the leadership of Pastors Mike and Dee Dee Freeman who consistently and unashamedly teach their partners how to live life God’s way. This past Saturday was no different. I attended Pastor Dee Dee’s “Women Walking in the Word” meeting and the lesson was on preparation. I could get into all of the details of the lesson but I’d rather just get to the point… Continue reading “Prepare Yourself”
