If “Faith” Took A Selfie, It Would Look Like This

In honor of my man of God, Pastor Michael A. Freeman, and his remarkable recovery and unshakable faith, I’m taking this Tuesday to share his testimony. In a time when our faith is being shaken by injustice and evil, let this serve as a reminder that God has the final say. When faced with challenges, no matter how dire the situation, keep your mind on the promise not the process. Evaluate the people you have in your circle now and remove all of those who you know would not stand with you in your darkest hour. It does matter who you call friend. It matters what church you attend. And it matters who you allow to speak over your life. Take inventory now.

I don’t have to write much today. No words can describe faith better than seeing real faith in action. So, I’ll let this video speak for itself. Keep the faith! Even if it’s all you have to stand on, it’s enough. My pastor is living proof.

Take Refuge in Love

fergusonThere is no doubt that we are living in a world plagued with unspeakable hate. There are many other words that come to mind but at this very moment “hate” sums up the atmosphere. The self hate, racial hate, gender hate, political hate, and international hate is suffocating. I’ve been watching too much CNN, I admit. My timeline has been plagued with all things “Mike Brown” … #Ferguson #HandsUpDontShoot #NotOneDime #DieIN … and all I want to do is #Breathe. I seriously felt myself giving up last week. I was emotionless. I didn’t feel good or bad. I felt nothing and it scared me a bit. As usual, when I get in my mood, I take time to be alone with God. I didn’t ask a thing. I didn’t have any questions. I simply needed God to deal with my empty emotions and make sense of it. Continue reading “Take Refuge in Love”

A Stupid Shower Rod

DSC_0277You guys just don’t know how hard it was for me to sit on this story for a week. I had all intentions of writing about the “leak” of the MiMi and Nikko sex tape but couldn’t get a word out. Every time I started, I’d get stuck. I was so focused on wanting my post to be timely that I was trying to force a message that wasn’t even there. It wasn’t until the Thursday after my post that what I really wanted to say came to life and it was all sparked when a friend of mine forwarded me the article posted below:

‘LOVE & HIP HOP’ SEX TAPE

Cripples Home Depot

NATIONAL SHOWER ROD SHORTAGE

“Demand is going through the roof for gymnastics-strength shower rods — all thanks to “Love & Hip Hop” star Mimi Faust‘s sex tape acrobatics — and Home DepotLowe’sTarget, and Walmart are struggling to keep up. We called employees at each of the major retailers (from Georgia to Cali) and we’re getting the same story — ever since the trailer for Mimi’s sex tape came out, people have been racing to purchase their own super-strong shower rods to recreate the Mimi experience. And supplies are running out — a customer at one Home Depot in Georgia tells us, they were totally sold out of Mimi-strength shower rods. This is a real thing — a Twitter search for “Mimi shower rod” shows an endless list of people trying to get their hands on one. There’s even a Twitter account dedicated to it (@MimiShowerRod). And don’t even get us started on the Vine videos. We reached out to officials at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and Target — no word back so far.” Continue reading “A Stupid Shower Rod”

Part I: The Dilemma

On Day 8 of my fast this month, the devotion referenced the passage Romans 8:1-4, 8-9 GWT. I decided to go directly to the Message translation because in most cases it’s the version that resonates most with my spirit. I like basic, to the point, in your face messages and the Message bible does it for me. I tried really hard to pick a few verses to highlight but I simply couldn’t! So much so, I had to go back a chapter to get the full meaning. So here we are at Romans 7! Continue reading “Part I: The Dilemma”

Wifey

ludacrisThere will be days when I’m more unapologetic for my viewpoints than others… today would be that day! I just might piss a few people off. Me saying “piss” may have already done the trick but hey… can’t please everyone. So…. The news about Dwyane Wade’s and Ludacris’ new baby mama drama has me on fire! And probably not for the reason you’re expecting to hear. Yes, it’s foul to be in a relationship with a woman for YEARS and father a child by another woman. In most cases I would call the other women “randoms” but I’m not certain that would apply in this case given the information that both women were from the men’s past; as far back as high school for Ludacris. Yes, it’s unfortunate that beautiful women in the spotlight give such a bad name to women in general when they decide to stick it out with men who would devalue them that much. But what’s even more disgusting is the fact that there’s any amount of sympathy for their “main chicks.”  I mean let’s be real, what makes Gabrielle Union and Eudoxie any better than the “baby mamas.” Yeah I said it, and here’s why… Continue reading “Wifey”

On Assignment

choresIt’s a new year and “Tuesdays with Bianca” is taking on a new look! You like?! I hope you do but even if you don’t I know that it’s not about that. You want to know what I have to say. Why do I deserve this platform and what am I going to do with it? Well it’s simple, I’m going to share what God places on my heart with a pure heart to uplift, inspire, and transform lives for the better. However He sees fit for me to do that then I’m all in!

I talk a lot about God’s purpose for your lives. I’m an unrelenting advocate for people finding theirs and moving on it, but what I’ve come to realize is that the word “purpose” is becoming cliche. People have heard it so much that they turn a deaf ear to it unknowingly. It’s such a simple, yet huge word and it can be daunting to think about. It’s also often positioned as something that we have to seek out and find. Though there’s truth to that, it can give the impression that it’s a possibility we may miss it in our lifetime for whatever reason. Although I love the word “purpose” I’m going to erase that from my vocabulary this year for one reason only… to reach those that either fear or reject it. From this day forward, I’m going to talk only about your assignment.

The dictionary defines “assignment” as: A position or post of duty to which one is assigned. A transfer of a claim, right, interest, or property from one to another.  Continue reading “On Assignment”

Power & Beauty

Many different things in life inspire me.  Daily I ask God that my ears be sensitive to His voice. A few weeks ago I was watching a webisode called “Red Table” led by Jada Pinkett-Smith. She sat with her mother and daughter and discussed various questions that they each placed in the box for each other to answer. The interview was compelling but the part that stuck out most to me was when Jada’s mother asked her if she held any animosity toward her for having not raised her properly while battling drug addiction. It was a powerful question and the one quote in particular that stuck in my head was when Jada said, “I look for the power and beauty in every situation, no matter how bad it is.” Continue reading “Power & Beauty”

Breaking.All.Strongholds.

After a beautiful weekend celebrating my mom and all that she’s been to me over the years, I thought it fitting to share an excerpt I read from Joyce Meyer’s book, “Battlefield of the Mind.” It’s a passage that should forever change the way you view your life if you have children or desire to have children one day.

“Your decision to obey God affects other people, and when you decide to disobey God, that also affects others. You may disobey God and choose to stay in the wilderness, but please keep in mind that if you now have or ever have children, your decision will keep them in the wilderness with you. They may manage to get themselves out when they are grown, but I can assure you they will pay a price for you disobedience.

Your life might be in better shape now if someone in your past had obeyed God.” Continue reading “Breaking.All.Strongholds.”
