MAN CRUSH MOMENT (MCM)

In the midst of one of my worst weeks ever, God showed me that He was still moving on my behalf and that my purpose was not going to be sidetracked by my pain. After a few months of talks with the founder of Defined By Christ magazine, I got the email that I’d been waiting on. My first relationship article would be published the following morning! You have to understand that I was in a slump! Nothing was going right and I honestly had forgotten about all that was in the works… until that email. The connection began after posting my most viewed blog post ever titled “Wifey” a few months back. I received emails from all types of people and I was offered many opportunities. The offer from DBC magazine was one of the ones I took seriously and it has come to fruition!

Last week I posted the link to the article to my social media accounts but I wanted to make sure my loyal readers, who may not be connected to me outside of the blog, had a chance to read it. I’m humbled by opportunities that have presented themselves to me and the divine connections that I’ve made over the past few months. I don’t take this assignment lightly and I look forward to seeing what’s next! Until then, I’ll get settled in to my new role as a relationship columnist for DBC magazine!! Hope you enjoy the read…

A Stupid Shower Rod

DSC_0277You guys just don’t know how hard it was for me to sit on this story for a week. I had all intentions of writing about the “leak” of the MiMi and Nikko sex tape but couldn’t get a word out. Every time I started, I’d get stuck. I was so focused on wanting my post to be timely that I was trying to force a message that wasn’t even there. It wasn’t until the Thursday after my post that what I really wanted to say came to life and it was all sparked when a friend of mine forwarded me the article posted below:

‘LOVE & HIP HOP’ SEX TAPE

Cripples Home Depot

NATIONAL SHOWER ROD SHORTAGE

“Demand is going through the roof for gymnastics-strength shower rods — all thanks to “Love & Hip Hop” star Mimi Faust‘s sex tape acrobatics — and Home DepotLowe’sTarget, and Walmart are struggling to keep up. We called employees at each of the major retailers (from Georgia to Cali) and we’re getting the same story — ever since the trailer for Mimi’s sex tape came out, people have been racing to purchase their own super-strong shower rods to recreate the Mimi experience. And supplies are running out — a customer at one Home Depot in Georgia tells us, they were totally sold out of Mimi-strength shower rods. This is a real thing — a Twitter search for “Mimi shower rod” shows an endless list of people trying to get their hands on one. There’s even a Twitter account dedicated to it (@MimiShowerRod). And don’t even get us started on the Vine videos. We reached out to officials at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and Target — no word back so far.” Continue reading “A Stupid Shower Rod”

Connect the Dots

Tomorrow marks the release of a movie I’ve been waiting on in high anticipation titled “Heaven Is For Real.” Not because of the storyline (although it is amazing) and not because of who is behind the making of it (although I am a huge supporter of DeVon Franklin’s work). It’s because it’s yet another one of the dots that connects to what I heard God call into existence 4 years ago.

DOT 1: In 2010, I created my producing firm “B.A.S.H Films” as a part of a class assignment. I loved the vision so much that I decided to make it official based on God’s promise that I would be a part of a faith based entertainment industry that will produce quality movies for mass audience appeal. Of course, it seemed completely unbelievable with the types of movies that were box office hits at the time. Let’s also be clear that I had absolutely no connections in the movie industry. All I knew was TV.

DOT 2: So naturally I questioned His promise. I developed a few things here and there but to say I was skeptical of my ability to accomplish such a thing is an understatement. Last year, I stumbled upon a promotion for an event called “The Merge Summit” which at is core is a networking platform for people who desire to merge faith and entertainment. I had no idea anything like that even existed and it was on it’s 6th year! It was a rewarding experience to say the least and who did I meet as a result? … Devon Franklin. A man who I admired from afar. A man who’s book I studied almost as intently as the Bible. A man who is at the forefront of the faith and entertainment movement and a true powerhouse in the faith community. I shook hands with him, he signed my book, and I assured him that we would cross paths again!

DOT 3: The Merge Summit was like no other networking event I’ve ever encountered. Each day we started off with a worship service. One particular pastor stood out. His name was Toure’ Roberts. His words were powerful, endearing, and far from preachy. His church is based in Le Brea, LA and he is considered to be the pastor to the stars. A lot of celebrities and industry figures attend his church but that’s not what drew me to him. It was his down to earth persona. It was his ability to fly below the radar and not tout his importance in a community that is all about appearances. It was his ability to be “in” the entertainment world but not “of” it. It was his ability to lead a group of people who have the world at their fingertips but are void and hungry for the Word. It takes strong faith, not a strong man to accomplish such a feat.

DOT 4: A year later, Pastor Toure’ would release his first book “Purpose Awakening” and I would complete it in about a week. I rarely finish a book in one setting as it usually takes me a few tries to get through even a good book but this one was special.  I admire that about him so I did what anyone walking in faith would do… something completely “ridiculous!” (to the natural eye at least). I applied to serve in his ministry. Yep, that’s right. I have no LA address. No LA job. No LA connections but I reached out in faith that one day I would be able to serve.

DOT 5: Then today, I run across this article in the trades titled “Hollywood’s Growing Faith in Christian Movies.” http://variety.com/2014/film/news/sony-shows-faith-with-wide-release-for-heaven-is-for-real-1201157172/

connect-the-dots-bearWhat does this all mean? There are moments in our journey that will reveal to you God’s promises in your life. It may not all make sense on how you’ll get there but believe that His plans are clear. Take some time out today to look back over the past few months and connect your own dots. You may be sitting there waiting on confirmation that He’s already given you. As long as you know He’s on board, trust the process and keep track of those “little” things that happen throughout the weeks and months that prove to you that you’re not crazy to believe that big, supersized dream! Once all the dots are connected, the big picture of His purpose for your life will be revealed!

Judges 6:15 “Gideon said to him, “Me, my master? How and with what could I ever save Israel? Look at me. My clan’s the weakest in Manasseh and I’m the runt of the litter.” … God said to him, “I’ll be with you. Believe me, you’ll defeat Midian as one man.”

Happy Tuesday!

Love, Bianca

We Off That

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, God knows how to speak to us in ways that resonate with where we are in life and what we respond to. I’ve written many times about how God speaks to me in the wildest situations: a car accident, a leaky faucet, a random encounter with an elderly woman, and in this case a 1980s hairstyle!! Yes people, I said hair!

The Voice

Everyone says when you hear God’s voice move in the way that he instructs you to move. No hesitation. No second opinions. Just go! That sounds good in theory but lets take in to account someone who has been unsuccessful at shutting down all the other clutter that fills their thoughts. What’s the secret to extracting His voice from all other voices that fill your head with things contrary to what you believe He is telling you to do. Not all things contrary have to be bad. They can just be logical, safe, or comfortable. In other words, if you chose to follow the contrary, you wouldn’t necessarily be doing yourself or anyone else any harm… or would you?
